A/CO is based in Edinburgh and was founded by Bern Balfe in 2001 to develop collaborative ways of working to design and produce buildings.
Collaborations are on a project-by-project basis and collaborators can be from any background or walk of life. The only essential thing is the right kind of attitude.
Successful work so far has been based around shared philosophies which include: an interest in practical design which is underpinned by real thinking; a belief that ideas are for sharing; an enthusiasm for making things; an awareness of our responsibility to use materials and energy wisely, and an anti-monumental approach to ordinary things.
