Case Study 4: Allotment Sheds were being attacked!
We had our shed burned to the ground one night, with the loss of all its contents, well worn and irreplaceable gardening tools. A pyromaniac and thief-proof crime buster shed was called for.
The brief was to make it as cheap and simple to erect as an off-the-peg shed from the local garden centre.
We based the dimensions of the shed walls on the width of a standard corrugated steel sheet to reduce cutting. By simply using the gables formed by the pitch of the roof to let light in and avoid the need for a window, we managed to come in at 50% of the budget.
The hard shiny metal skin raised some eyebrows at first among other allotment holders and aficionados of the picturesque, but, with the passage of time, it has settled in well among the fruit bushes.
