Allotment Sheds were being attacked!
The brief was to make an allotment shed which would be fire and thief proof and as cheap and simple to erect as an off-the-peg shed from the local garden centre.
We based the dimensions of the shed walls on the width of a standard corrugated steel sheet to reduce cutting. Instead of windows, we used translucent sheet on the gables formed by the pitch of the roof to let light in. The material cost came in at only 50% of the budget. The floor consists of recycled bricks.
The shed is now almost ten years old and looking as good as new, proof that a building does not have to be complicated or expensive to do the job.
