Edinburgh town house, refurbishment
A Victorian terraced house had a stone outshoot at the rear in which the floor level had been raised some years ago, so that the house was completely cut off from the garden. The floor level was lowered to its original level, and a large opening formed with folding glass doors so that the room can be opened to the garden.
Internally the house was totally upgraded, with new services, kitchens and bathrooms, insulation and a new lantern rooflight over the staircase, double glazed to conserve energy and installed by crane in one piece, to reduce air leakage.
